what's so great about brunch anyways?

Good afternoon on this fine Monday!

What better day of the week to begin writing about daytime drinking than the start of the work week? For a few months now the "brunch blog" has been a major discussion item amongst close friends and newly made friends at my favorite brunch locations. I'm often asked: "What's so great about brunch?" Actually, I cannot think of a better subject for my first post to this blog. Maybe you're an avid bruncher, maybe you're not into it yet--I can assure you whoever you are, some of these points will ring true. Below please find the five reasons I love brunch so much.

Reason 1: Daytime drinking. Post-college and introductions of "grown up" scheduling into our everyday lives makes daytime drinking something you've got to plan into your weekend. Brunch is a grown up approach to the college non-stop drinking mindset.

Reason 2: Breakfast. Breakfast is the greatest meal of the day. (While I myself, am not a meat eater, this is where my good friend Sam would simply say bacon is reason enough to brunch. So for you meat eaters, bacon. There is bacon at brunch.)

Reason 3: Hangover cure. The combination of bubbles and breakfast is enough to cure even your worst hangover.

Reason 4: Time. When you're out for drinks and raging during an evening event the opportunity to spend a great deal of time at one location is limited and often discouraged (as evidence by the activity known as "bar hopping"). Attending brunch is a time commitment. You'll get quality time with whoever you're going with.

Reason 5: Brunch is what you make it. Want to rage? Go to a brunch bar where you can dance. Want to have an intimate conversation with friends you haven't seen in awhile? Go to a location where the lights are bright and setting is intimate.

If these reasons aren't enough try it for yourself. From here on out expect to find more pictures and updated data on the best spots to attend. The data is totally subjective and up for interpretation, but hopefully gives enough information to get you to the right spot. If you think I've missed out on your favorite brunch location please let me know.

anxiously awaiting my next brunch.
